Did you know the word disciple comes from an ancient Greek word which actually means student or pupil?

Back in the day, philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato had disciples who would follow them around, listen to their words of wisdom and watch what they did in order to become more like them.

In the Bible, Jesus also had disciples. These guys would follow Jesus around so closely they would see everything he did, everything he said with the aim to become more like him.

Obviously today we can’t follow Jesus around because he’s not here. We can however, become more like Jesus by reading about what he did and said in the Bible.

It’s also important to hang out with people who look more like Jesus so we can become more like Jesus. That’s what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
